Missions will be primary active that the player will be doing, so because of this, I wanted to make sure that the player has more than the normal default missions to participate in such as destroy all enemies or defend this point. Since this game is designed around a anti-crime taskforce, that gave the ability to make more complex and challenging missions, in researching this, I played games like X-COM 2, Phantom Doctrine and Phoenix Point and took a not of the type of missions that they provide.

I noted that whilst the majority were "destroy all enemies", they did throw in the occasional complex mission such as an escort, defend or search and destroy mission, these missions tend to be better and more situational. These missions also tend to be more enjoyable as they usually have more complex interaction between player and AI, such as the need to defend from all angles, or to be careful to not destroy certain objects.

The game is also designed with the intention to grant access to special mission types as the player unlocks more, such as stealth or infiltration missions. These aren't seen as much in games of this genre, games like Phantom Doctrine and X-COM 1's DLC Enemy Within does have missions like this and they do suit the genre well, and when taking into account the theme and story of the game, the addition of this kind of mission will give a better player experience overall.
